Integration Before Expansion

Wholeness precedes growth.

Part 3 of the Guiding Currents of Peak Resonance

You are not here to transcend your life - you’re here to live it fully, and that means integrating all parts of you. Shadow and light, story and sensation - only through full embodiment does true expansion become sustainable.

What’s next?
This is a place I find myself often.

I’ve seen the pattern and I’ve sat with it. Maybe I’ve even found the offramp. Have I arrived?

As we walk down this path, it becomes evident fairly quickly that this is not transactional in the sense that we experience daily.

There isn’t an aha moment that shifts everything all at once.
You can’t buy it on Amazon.
You don’t step into the convenience store and order a new you.

These are moments in time that I return to repeatedly.
But instead of letting them fly by unnoticed, I slow time down –
I observe.
I see how it feels.
Not just what my mind is telling me, but somatically.

Sometimes it feels clean.

Sometimes it doesn’t.

Neither are right or wrong. They are just signals.
But there is no denying how each one feels.

When it does, I’m riding a high I don’t ever want to leave.
Sometimes so good that when it passes, it leaves behind a longing in its wake.
Sacrificing the experience by grasping for what was.

When it doesn’t…
that’s usually where I’ve tried to move too quickly.

I left the trail for a shortcut.
And I missed the view.

Grasping for the moments of expansion like a kid in a candy store,
while stepping over the squeaky board to not wake the beast.

I often remind myself – I’m not going backwards.

I am returning.
This time, with a different view.

Maybe there is something unresolved that I previously tried to bypass…
Gloss over.

Something I didn’t want to admit…
Or something I didn’t want to face.

Maybe I hoped I wouldn’t have to sit with that pain any longer – It hurt too much…
Too deep.
Maybe I hoped that if I just tried hard enough, it would be different.

I can see what I did, why I did it,
and told myself that next time… would be different.

But it wasn’t.

That can feel like failure.
And the mind loves to prove itself right.

This is where I find another threshold.
A moment. An opportunity. A fork in the trail.

Maybe there is another way.
Maybe, instead of being destined to repeat the cycle…
I can go deeper. Sit with it longer. Reflect more honestly.

Face whatever it is I either did not see…
or chose to avoid.

I have an opportunity to look for it.
To look at it.
And look closely at where it touches my experience.

I’ve run this loop with social media more times than I would like to admit.
I see its potential.

Connection.
Sharing.
Community.

I begin to get involved, sharing and interacting
and inevitably it seemed, got triggered.

The trigger descended into a chaotic internal state… Reactive.
Posts came with a sting – a zip.

My empathic sensitivities used as a weapon.
But the weapon was being used on myself.

Judging others on what they post, or how they post it…
while simultaneously envious of their ability to be so expressive.

Judging their experience…
while stuck wanting mine to be something it wasn’t.

Closing the very doors I wanted so desperately to open.

I’ve returned repeatedly, only to delete my account.
Each return came with a slightly different view. A slightly different response.
Even though they often…
ended exactly the same way.

For a long time, I thought it was because I was losing hope in humanity at large.

It felt like division.
Separation.

Now I see that this tool was offering me something that I was resisting.

Not only a clear view of myself – but the opportunity to fully be that version.

And to be seen.

To do that, I need to sit with all of the previous attempts.
Not trying to weed out the “bad” ones –
but to include them.
To integrate them.
Sit with them long enough to allow what they carry to emerge.

They were all searching for the same thing, and they all played very important roles along the way. Disregarding them is just sectioning off another piece of me.

Every time I’ve tried to ignore a part of myself…
it found a way back in.
Amplified.

The more I hold it in, the harder it tries to come out.
The harder it tries, the more distorted I feel.

Peeling back layers but keeping them close – ready to be redeployed.
Ready to duck behind.
To feel safe.

As I’ve grown older, I can see what that did for me the most.
It made me tired.
Beaten down.
Separate.

I don’t need to become someone else…
I need to become more of what’s already here.

I will stumble.
I will fall.

Each time I do I’ll sit with it until it shows me what I’ve been resisting – purposefully or not.
And I will integrate it.

As best I can.
For as long as it takes.

Each time, more whole.

More me.

And when the loop returns, I’ll see it from a different angle.
I’ll integrate it in a different way.

Because –
It’s not the same loop.
And I’m not the same man.

If something keeps returning in your life…
maybe it’s not in your way.
Maybe it is the way.

And on the other side, lives the version of you that only you know.
Waiting patiently…
to be seen, not resisted.

As I write this, I find myself looking for the moment when this all resolves.
The aha moment.
What’s next…
But the further I go, the more I realize that it folds back in on itself, over and over.

This isn’t about arrival.
It’s about being ok…
without one.
